The same aunt who after being baptised a Mormon, became a druid.
The same aunt who emigrated illegally to the US.
And who legally emigrated to France & Spain and failed each time blaming the lack of English amongst the locals there.
The same aunt who’s later effort at emigration made it as far as Co Down, and failed there too.
Still she’s very angry that immigrants have stolen the highly paid job that she was eminently qualified for…

Her high paying job is spending 30 of her 63years on the fucking dole.

All I ever see from counter protests are NGO logos, Palestinian flags and numerous communist party flags (bizarrely). No emphasis or condemnation for that seeing as the hammer and sickle should be viewed the very same as the swastika.
People have the right to wave the flag of their nation, no leftwing radical or holier than thou opinion writer can take that away from people. The media and politicians seem to be aware that they’re losing the culture war they initiated and that a populous who are growing irate smells danger for them.
To everyone else here I’d take no more notice of our dogshit reporters and columnists.

They should have their dole cut and kicked out of social housing so working families like me can be housed and life long sentences for people with 30 or 40 convictions.

Saw the video of left and right winged parade in Limerick. Was surprised to see the “left wing” display waving only Palestinian flags.
We are losing a sense of ourselves as a people.
Remember seeing counter protests and not a tricolour in sight. Majority Palestinian flags with a couple communist, 1 antifascist and a pride flag.
This happened in Canada. The flag was being used by the far right as a sign of being a “true Canadian”. Then Trump came along and started threatening the country’s economy, sovereignty and security and all of a sudden the Canadian flag became a symbol of pride for the whole country and its association with far right lunatics was removed.
I don’t know what the equivalent for Ireland would be but something that galvanises the whole country might be enough to “reclaim” the flag.
These protests work on optics, the reason the far right movement grows so well is because they know what imagery, slogans and buzzwords work. This applies to every other country having the same movement, all using their national iconography to normalise other views.
Anti-protesters inability to use Irish iconography effectively will set them down a losing path with the general public, simple as that. Some of the richest, most powerful people on earth helping to fuel these movements in every western nations using algorithm data and information control they figure they’ll eventually reach their goals through persistance.
They’ll be painted as traitors, “others”, people who “hate” Ireland, etc, while social media and news media increasingly promotes those views and help demonise everyone with even as much of a hair towards progressive movements.
The far right movement is running circles dominating the online and news spheres from podcasts to messaging apps like Telegram to now using AI for propaganda. Especially now with the likes of Musk looking to tip the scales in every western country and Zuckerberg dropping moderation teams to allow a free for all while promoting more extreme content.
Look at the sheer amount of engagement these pages and their content get. Doesn’t matter if they’re 5% or 99% supported by bots, the average Joe isn’t going to factor bots in.
Lots of people are going to identify far quicker with images of people with Irish flags than they are with a sea of non-Irish flags like Pride or Palestinian ones.
I fucking hate to see the Tricolour used to spread hate but protesting movements have changed and people aren’t adapting against an increasingly powerful machine of propaganda.
Exact same thing happened in Brazil, to the point people stopped wearing the iconic Brazilian yellow soccer jersey.
