Someone’s about to be moaning on Facebook about the tyrannical county council oppressing their rights…
Someone is about to have a lot of shed space clearing up
300 per week to live in a barely glorified shed? Shocking!
I’m almost certain I know where this is and who the “landlord” is. Some fucking audacity to build a small neighbourhood in your back yard
€300 per week is €1300 a month not €1200
Remember. Landlords are a vital part of Irish culture and provide a valuable service to society /s
Parasitic bastards.
“amid concerns for renters” haha that’s fuckin gas! One persons rent is another persons income, who said that again?
30 euro a week is pretty good
*“Cork County Council was “not in a position to respond” to a query as to whether it intends to investigate the development further.”*
CCC is obliged to issue an enforcement notice. It has no discretion. In fact, I’d say it’s already in the process of doing so, hence why it didn’t comment.
A more telling question would be how much has the landlord received in HAP? In my experience, only the most vulnerable tenants rent sheds and, almost without exception, they’re in receipt of HAP. In fact, there’s an argument that scumbag landlords purposefully prioritise HAP applicants as the local authorities or district judge are less likely to move against an unauthorised development where there’s a risk of making a tenant homeless.
I mean… of all the hair brained ideas to dodge the taxman, this is surely the cream of the crop.
I live in somthing like this I had built in me families back garden. (Landlady sold the house and not a chance in hell am I paying dublin rent).
They can be quite nice if built right.
But at the cost if mine (looks a fair bit nicer than the ones here) 300 a week is a rip off. Fully paid off in just over a year each and that’s if they are dully furnished and they didn’t get a discount for 6 units.
I’d honestly rather stay in a log cabin than some of the apartments you see on daft tbh. Provided they had running water and electricity.
They are typically new and designed to be lived in by professionals. Whereas the standard Dublin apartment now is cramming a sofabed, shower and microwave all into a delapidated room.
I really don’t get the snobbish attitude of log cabins being no better than garden sheds.
One person’s rent is another person’s income. It might be their pension, it might be how they pay the mortgage.
