Giancarlo Stanton’s return is on the horizon. The New York Yankees’ slugger has been close to making his 2025 debut for a week, but now we have a narrower focus.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed Saturday that Stanton will “likely” be activated early next week—Monday or Tuesday—when the Yankees return home to face the Angels. He’s slated to play a fourth rehab game at Double-A Somerset over the weekend, the final step before officially joining the roster.

This season remains Stanton-free, sidelined all year due to tendinitis in both elbows. He began his assignment with Somerset earlier this week, going 3-for-11 with a walk and four RBI. Boone reported on Friday that Stanton “looks strong at the plate” and has “checked the boxes” physically, though the final call is rightfully Stanton’s to make.
So far, the Yankees have chosen caution over haste—and it shows. With key bats like Judge, Goldschmidt, and Rice carrying the lineup, the team doesn’t need to rush him back. Still, Boone admitted there’s noticeable buzz in the clubhouse. “Everybody in this room can’t wait to see him,” Judge said.

Once Stanton’s back, Boone faces the challenge of integrating a star into a crowded lineup. “We’ll figure it out,” the manager said, leaving it at that .
