VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — What began as a simple event space in 2021 has grown into one of Vicksburg’s most sought-after venues, thanks to the vision of Dr. Deborah Stanfield and Mike Mitchell.
The two co-owners of the Vicksburg Event & Business Center have transformed a formerly underutilized building on Washington Street into a multi-functional space that now serves as a hub for everything from weddings and corporate meetings to cigar nights and campaign parties.

“Before we purchased this building, we didn’t realize it had so many rooms, so we started putting things in each room,” Stanfield said. “It became a community place for people, and that’s what we wanted it to be.”

The venue includes a cocktail area, a full-service bar, and a cigar lounge at its center. There’s also a bridal suite, a therapeutic room, and a hospitality suite—all designed to offer guests a distinctive and upscale experience.
“We have a great staff, including professional security,” Mitchell said. “It’s a priority to us to make sure that you are safe.”
The event center is often fully booked months in advance, with some events already scheduled into next year. The space hosts a wide variety of gatherings including weddings, baby showers, family and class reunions, corporate meetings, and celebrations for Divine Nine fraternities.

In addition to event coordination, the center offers full decorating services, contracts photographers and DJs, and provides consultation services. Stanfield, who is also a therapist, conducts therapy sessions on-site, adding a unique dimension to the business.
Outside, a wraparound porch offers a scenic setting for guests to enjoy picnics or relax during events. Regular features include an R&B night every Wednesday and football watch parties during the season in what Mitchell calls a “drama-free atmosphere.”
The venue also hosted multiple campaign events during recent local elections, including parties for Mayor George Flaggs Jr. and Alderman TJ Mayfield. It remains open seven days a week, primarily operating by appointment, with most services available after 6 p.m.
“Our main goal is to make sure everyone is happy and to serve Vicksburg,” Mitchell said.
With continued community support and more plans on the horizon, Stanfield and Mitchell say the Vicksburg Event & Business Center will remain a staple for celebrations, gatherings, and community building in the city.

The Vicksburg Event & Business Center is located at 2321 Washington Street.
