  1. Built on the Atatürk Forest Farm & Zoo in 2014, Erdogan’s sumptuous place replaced the traditional Çankaya Mansion. The project was permitted despite being constructed in a historical preservation zone – the Ministry of Culture & Tourism had suggested that the palace itself was classified as a ‘mandatory infrastructure project’.

However, a caselaw rules that the provision ‘mandatory infrastructure’ only encompasses the electricity, water, natural gas, and such public services. Definitely not a palace.

The supreme leader enjoys 1,150 rooms and its 6-month heating costs are reportedly sufficient to fulfill Bayburt, a town of 84 thousand. Granite was used for all pillars, and one square metre of it is equal to daily salary of 16 mine workers. Having been built on an area 3,7x larger than Buckingham Palace, $350 million was spent on the construction. It also has continuous operating expenses, considering 7 thousand employees and a hospital – as per Erdogan’s former advisor.

Following an lawsuit by a former Republican People’s Party MP, the Council of State, the highest administrative court within the Republic of Turkey, ruled that Erdogan’s palace is an ‘illegal structure’. 9 judges voted in favor, while 4 opposed. The decision is final.

The outcome determines that the palace has neither mandatory nor strategic infrastructure purposes, and that it corrupts the topographical layout and the city silhouette.

  2. They should turn it into a dorm and a study center for the university students.

  3. I remember when people were protesting his visit to the us and his bodyguards went over and assaulted the protesters. And the first trump regime did nothing.

Erdogan could sleep in a ditch.

  5. Appropriating state funds and bending the laws and regulations for his own residence…
