And their answer isn’t to change policy, it’s a PR campaign.
Literally fiddling while Rome burns.
Why not? Crime is down*
*So long as you omit a load of crime from the figures
The government can’t even address its own internal corruption and misappropriation of the public purse and is complicit in systemic genocide of its citizens. Criminals in government will not tackle crime, they will perpetuate it!
OF COURSE THEY WILL.. They will go after……MEAN TWEETS!
Think that headline possibly has 5 superfluous words on the end of it
The Government can be trusted to take big bold actions when it comes to crime.
Not *preventing* crime, mind you…
The only thing this government is capable of is wasting public money.
If the state can’t or won’t uphold that part of the social contract, can I have my gun rights back please?
The public are right in that belief.
Though you do have to wonder what the public actually believe should be done to tackle crime. Usually it’s an ignorant mixture of unworkable, draconian legislation, harsh counterproductive prison conditions and bringing back the death penalty. As opposed to properly funding the courts, probation services and police.
Never mind tackling societal issues, deprivation and mental health services.
I don’t even agree with how they define crime.
Smoking, buying and selling weed – A crime apparently, one that justifies strip searching thousands of children per year.
Defrauding the taxpayer of billions via dodgy bounce back loans and PPE contracts and government corruption at all levels – Not a crime apparently.
Not actually committing crime would be a start. Not just partygate, but also the open secret about how much drug use is going on there and breaking the law in a “limited and specific way”.
The documents, recovered from No.10 have tested positive for cocaine residue. The Met Police spokesmen commented to our reporter “No we won’t be investigating the cocaine as it relates to an alleged crime that occurred in the past. Also all of our officers are too busy defending themselves in ongoing rape cases”
Oh, they will tackle “crime”. Like prosecuting people who are overwhelmed by the forms they are supposed to fill out and stuff like that.
Political bribery and corruption, on the other side, is a matter best left alone, isn’t it?
The Government can’t even stick to the laws they write themselves let alone corruption laws so my main worry is on the mental capacity of anyone who thinks this Government might be able to do anything to tackle crime.
When their too busy finding ways of bumming the public without lube AGAIN, yeah we don’t trust them to do shit.
do we believe the government will do anything but line the pockets of themselves and their mates?
What like breaking covid restrictions? Or embezzling money through dodgy PPE schemes?
Of course they’re not going to tackle it, they’re committing it!
Have we ever believed it? I’ve certainly never felt like it would at any point in my lifetime.
Well I don’t think that’s a fair assessment. I know they’re not be too good at tackling taxpayer money being stolen through dodgy PPE procurement scams or government lockdown parties. I know they’re not that great at dealing with everyday crimes like burglaries either.
But they’re great at dealing with squatters in Russian oligarch properties!
The best way to tackle petty crime is to take poverty and they’re sure as shit not about to do that.
“UK public do not believe government will …’insert even the smallest basic task'”
Well, they haven’t tackled anything else, have they?
I used to live somewhere I had issues with kids vandalising my car. Caught them on camera, followed them to shop round corner so had them good on two cctv systems. The police couldn’t use that they said incase they changed clothes in the 500m to get to shop ( discounting other houses with cctv), even though the shop had clear face shots.
The biggest kick in the nuts was the police woman on the phone joking ‘how would they like it if you messed with their bikes etc’ and I had to point out ‘well I considered it but it’s not a good look being aggressive with kids’ and she was like ‘oh yeah good point’. Local justice is coming back and it won’t be good.
Of course not. I was once beaten up by a housemate, he left marks on my neck and face. Went straight to the police. Guy had priors. In the end nothing happened.
So I had to move house – foregoing some of my paid rent in the process – but this guy got away scott free.. Great system.
If they can’t recognise crime in their own party what makes them think they can tackle crime in the community. Absolute spanners
A lot of people seem to have lost sight of why they’re doing most of the things they do because of becoming increasingly under pressure to hit targets and told that they’re failures and are at risk of losing their jobs if they don’t. People chase targets that they can hit. In policing they then care about the solved crimes statistics and so much goes wrong in the way they only pursue the crimes they think they will solve, rather than trying to solve all crime, which should be the aim of policing.
The government is being so stereotypically Tory it’s almost like living in a future satirical propaganda piece about them. Their actions and deeds are designed to lead to them being able to shift the blame for massive inequality, the destruction of the planet and most people’s ways of life, onto the public, in much the same way as religions push guilt onto the individual for the failures of society. Unfortunately, when they’ve withdrawn all the support and funding they can from people, their own favourite pyramid schemes are no longer being paid into at the bottom, as the poor have no money, so they can’t then ride off into the sunset having made everyone into a model Tory citizen who believes in personal responsibility and looks after themselves, because they need people as a dumb audience to be there to suffer them and pay for their excesses. It would be alright if it was entertaining, but I could have done without ever becoming aware of the existence of Liz Truss.
It Irony is that because the Tories of gutted the Police, Magistrates, Court, Prisons and Probation services it doesn’t matter what they say, people from all backgrounds regardless where they live are seeing on a daily basis how much crime goes unattended by the Police.
I live in a a very safe Tory seat however over the last year the is a lot angry towards to the Tories because residents are experiencing the cuts first hand.
With many people now having home CCTV, Doorbell Camera’s they are now noticing just how many times people are checking out their garages, cars, walking into their gardens in the early hours of the morning.
When they are contacting Police they just are not interested…
Many people have now just given up and post the footage on Facebook etc as a warning to others.
Once a month the local copper along with his pretend copper hold a meet and great in the local Costa.
Everytime they do this you they are flocked by people demanding why the Police are not doing anything about people checking out their homes, especially when they have on camera.
They just keep getting the same thing, the Police don’t have the man power to investigate, especially since now crime has actually been committed.
Of course this then just leads to people saying so they actually have to be broken into first before they will do anything.. and even if they are will get anything more then just a Police Reference Number?.
The local councillor waa getting hammer so often about the lack of any police action that they ended up having to come off social media for a few weeks.
The local copper used tweet out quite often however they have had to stop because again the amount of anger toward them has gone through the roof.
So yeah, Boris, Patel, Mogg etc came give what every figures they like on TV, it doesn’t mean shit because so many people have first hand experience just how bad crime has gotten and little the Police care..
Uk public doesn’t believe it’ll stop raining this year either.
They can’t even tackle crime in their own party, let alone the country.
I dealt with the criminal justice system once, including Starmer as DPP. There’s no way I’d ever go back. There’s no justice there, no ownership, no accountability, and absolutely no credibility.
The whole thing was a pointless waste of my time and effort and it achieved nothing but income provision for those involved.
.
That is Tory strength 101 isn’t it? People favour the Tories because they are perceived as *”strong on crime”* and *”good with the economy”*.
So we have both their strengths in the bin basically. Hopefully the public provide the final nail in the coffin.
I think tackling crime would mean the majority of Tory politicians losing their jobs (as they seem to always be great at filling their pockets and breaking laws, but almost always getting away with it…).
