Persons intending to bring pets into the Republic of Moldova should be aware that a maximum of five pets per non-commercial movement is allowed. They may accompany the owner or an authorised person, IPN reports citing the Customs Service.
Access to animals is only allowed through customs posts where the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) veterinary inspection posts are operating. The full list of these posts is available on the official website of the Customs Service.
For further information, the Customs Service can be contacted on +373 22 78 88 88 88 or by e-mail at [email protected]. For matters related to veterinary sanitary control, interested parties can contact the Animal Protection, Welfare and Registration Section of ANSA, on +373 22 264 671.
Moldovan pet owners who intend to travel abroad with their pets are also advised to consult the rules set by the countries of destination and, where appropriate, transit countries. For travelling within the European Union, the ‘Specific information on the rules for travelling with pets’, available on the European Commission’s website, is relevant.
