A long time MP for the Coalition Party, Ilkka Kanerva, is dead. He was first elected to the parliament in 1975 and re-elected ever since, making him the longest-serving MP.
The death has come suddenly, and according to the news due to an illness, which was kind of a shock since he was just commenting on daily politics although officially on sick leave.
