Hello! I've received this letter from finanzant and as I understand it's an income tax prepayment thing.

But I don't understand if I need to pay 192 EUR until 03.07 or 192 and 147?

I haven't prepayed any income tax this year yet.

Thank you in advance

  1. 192€ until 03.07.2025

297€ on 10.09.2025 and 10.12.2025 (for your 2025 tax return)

  4. 192€ by Juli and then you will have to make prepayments according to the schedule below.

297 in September and December 25, and then 147 in Q1-4 in 2026.

  5. I.

    1. You will need to pay 192 now or at least until July 3.

    2. Please pay 297 on 10Sep and 10Dec.

    3. Please pay 147 every quarter until further notice, payable on the 10th of Mar, Jun, Sep and Dec.

    II.

    2. and 3. are advance payments for expected future income tax.

You should give the finanzamt a direct debit authorization. In case that you do that now, they will deduct the amount automatically and payments can never be late.

It is a good thing. I have done this for a decade and never had problems. All payments are announced at least four weeks in advance. You can always call and talk to them, if you feel you are billed too much or your income situation changes.

  6. Practical tup: If you have a Lohnsteuerhilfe (well worth in my opinion) you can ask them to challenge this somehow so you don’t have the hassle of having to remember it.

  7. pay 192 now

the other are prepayments the Finanzamt has calculated based on what has happened and what they expect you to earn. In principle, you are expected to pay those as well by those dates

But this depends on why this missing payment happened this year, and you will need to assess your situation. You can challenge this. For example, if the missing 192 EUR are due to some one-off income (like you sold some stocks and don’t expect to sell any in the near future) you can challenge it

  8. “Bitte zahlen Sie 192€..”
    That line goes together 🙂

  9. I’m 30 and born and raised here. I also call my mom to ask what I’m supposed to pay 😀

  10. Did u do urself ur Steuer Erklärung?
Didn’t I have expenses this year that can count into your deductibles?

Are u a single with a salary of a specialist?

By the way, u owe them not that much but the want jus to make sure that they got their money from you so they will make u pay in the future to meet the projected yearly tax that u should pay, pretty much you will get them back in the future, but for now u can also reverse this by:

1-looking up for all the expense you did in 2024
2- contacting a Steuerberater and sending him all documentation to get an assessment whether u deserve money back or not.

And last do not talk about this on reddit, not many people want ur benefit/interests here, be careful.

  11. ChatGPT can actually be really helpful for figuring out stuff like this.

  12. It looks like a lot of installment payments for such a low income, though.
