on June 9th 2024 after France’s far-right National Rally Party won big in the European elections Emanuel Macron made a radical decision i’ve decided to give you again the choice of our parliamentary future through the vote tonight I’m dissolving the National Assembly it was a highstakes gamble that threw the country into political chaos france was called on to elect a new parliament but division would reign and no party or block would reach an absolute majority the left abruptly formed a new alliance called the new popular front and made tactical decisions alongside Macron’s central coalition to block the national rally from government they succeeded but the result was a parliament split in thirds in an apparent bid to find a middle ground Macron named Conservative veteran Michelle Ba as prime minister his first task was to secure a budget a task he failed he was ousted in a historic vote of no confidence and France’s parliament was paralyzed once again i decided to dissolve to give you back your say the decision produced more instability than serenity and I take full responsibility next up it was Macron’s centrist ally Francois Bahru’s short to be prime minister he was able to achieve what Bier couldn’t and passed the budget by calling on article 49.3 of the constitution meaning he could do so without a vote he then staved off a potential vote of no confidence with the support of the left-wing socialists but the unity stopped there the parliament is still fragile and the French public is displeased 71% of the population think Mcron’s decision to dissolve the parliament was a mistake

One year ago, Emmanuel Macron decided to dissolve the National Assembly after acknowledging his party’s defeat in the European elections. But instead of the “clarification” he had hoped for, the snap legislative elections resulted in an even more fragmented political landscape.

  3. i dont know exactly about domestic politics of france but Macron came out as good european leader, he leading EU very well
