President Donald Trump will travel to Alberta, Canada, later today to participate in the Group of Seven meeting amid a widening conflict between Israel and Iran and his ongoing trade war.
Israel launched new strikes on Iran on Sunday, escalating the conflict for a third day after targeting Iran’s oil assets on Saturday. Trump said on his social media platform on Sunday that “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” adding “Many calls and meetings now taking place. I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK.”
On Saturday, the same day Trump hosted a military parade in Washington, he said: “If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.”
