Beavers have been reintroduced into the UK, albeit in controlled areas. Its a start though.
Having nice fur & the fact the medieval church classified beaver as a fish, which meant it could be eaten on Fridays, and Holy days of religious obligation, probably didn’t help them.
Tbh I do not understand what the colours mean without explanation. Do we have more or less beavers now? Never seen one, so both is possible
The Danish politicians (in Copenhagen) decided to release beavers in western Jutland.
DR TV has interviewed a lovely elderly lady who has been affected by the release of beavers. She has a dialect that is not always understood in the Copenhagen area, therefore she is subtitled. And YouType thinks she speaks Dutch 🙂
Since 18 beavers were released in Klosterheden Plantation in 1999, the beaver population has more than doubled, and some of them have now found their way to Gerda lake at their home near Lemvig.
-They ruin it for me – my bushes and fruit trees, says Gerda, who without success has tried to prevent the beavers passage to her lake with a fence. Therefore, she is left with two solutions: One is to shoot the beavers – but it is not allowed. – Then send them away! Send them to Copenhagen, is the alternative proposal.
I always thought nowadays most would be shaved or waxed.
All these beaver come to europe and destroy our butiful culture /s

Most of the beavers in Finland are canucks (Castor canadensis), an invasive species because Finns killed all the native ones. There’s four times as many canuckbeavers as eurobeavers, [green = euro, orange = canuck](https://www.luke.fi/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/majavalaskentaan-osallistuneet-metsastysseurat-2020.png).
