  1. Apparently requests for galleries to exhibit “art” pieces have skyrocketed since this was announced. Will be hilarious to watch how it works out.

  2. i saw some disabled guy on tiktok complaining that the govt are just pandering to south dublin rich kids cos they can cough up 500/week for artists but disability payment is only 204 per week

    big difference between claiming social welfare cos a normal job is boring and claiming social welfare cos you’re physically unable to work

  3. I wonder what the criteria is? I see its open to all art but its strict from what I gather, like a scholarship so you have to really work hard or risk getting dropped?

    As long as its not a dole alternative for “artists” with no output then I can get behind it. My main job is my life but I couldn’t pursue music in my free time without the money to fund it. Often a full time job is the end of an artist and will push that passion into a hobby. The financial opportunities for a lot of artists aren’t there nowadays, especially in Ireland so you may never live of your art. It will interesting to see how this works out.
