2. I don’t doubt this. My grandparents talked about how the glaciers (in the 1930s) were nothing like what they used to be when they told me in the 1970s that the retreat of the glaciers was even more advanced yet. Relatives of my British grandfather were fascinated by glaciers: shooting on 4″x5″ glass plates, they recorded dozens upon dozens of photos in the 1880s-1920s.
