Popty Ping is a word created by the older generation to make fun of the younger people using a microwave instead of an over. The Welsh word is meicrodon.
Dont be silly we all know that Popty Ping is a mining village in the Rhondda.
The Meek-Row-Wah-Vey for when we have visitors.
Honestly I think it should be a good sign that Popty Ping has caught on over the ‘correct’ word. It shows in a small way that Welsh is a living evolving language.
It sounds like the sort of thing a toddler would make up. It just sounds foolish, and it’ll never replace *meicrodon*.
No
Ellyll! It’s kind of the equivalent of referring to eggs as eggy peggys
No
It just means oven/bakery/aisle of baked goods ping doesn’t it? My parents used to call the microwave the Ding. Mind you, she was half Welsh…
Still trying to milk a 20 year old joke? What are we, Peter Kay?
