Rishi Sunak’s NFT push ‘a bit more virtue signalling’ from Chancellor

  1. Rishi sunak going for a money grab after seeing Ukraine’s crypto success.

Giving the whole tech a bad name. I’d trust 90% of the crypto news I hear more than I’d trust him to do something to benefit the UK

  2. The Tories struggle to run a traditional economy that they know inside and out. I would never trust them with a crypto market, I don’t think they understand how risky it can be. Liverpool FC have just seen their attempt to get into that market flop, the government could easily go the same way.

  3. Crypto taxes in the UK are an abomination, especially when you bring NFTs into the mix… fact Rishi is trying to hype the UK as becoming some Crypto hub & creating an NFT is absolutely laughable.

  4. I have no idea why anyone values NFTs. It effectively boils down to demonstrating you have the right to claim “ownership” of some random bytes of data.

That data -when entered into an appropriate system run by someone else- will unlock/show/authorise something.

    So what?

The person running the system is still ultimately responsible for it and everything it does. If they want to change it so your NFT no longer works, they can. If they want to let others use the same resource with a different NFT, they can.

The ONLY thing the blockchain guarantees is that you can be associated with that string of bytes. It says nothing about what you can do with them afterwards.

The whole thing is a big scam.
