This is a stupid way to look at it.
Political parties represent ideology not interest of their own states in the European Parliment except if we are talking about the far right/anti eu right.
The European council and council of the EU are the ones supposed to represent national interest.
Big groups like the center right EPP or center left S&D represent idology and policy positions rather than national interest.
I still do not like the way MEP seats are shared with maximum of 96 and minimum of 6 because it is not proportional. Some countries having 1 MEP per 800k other per 400k or even 100-200k

This is a rather silly way to look at things. The EP represents the European people as a whole (if indeed there is one). They don’t represent Germany.
Only 13 MP’s from Central/Eastern Europe in top 100.
