In Ticino, we are voting on this in September. I really hope that we vote yes, as we already did in last year’s referendum with 57.6%. Some of the lowest salaries and highest premiums, it’s completely unsustainable!
It is going to get worse, as the average age of the population rises – more older people needing care (post-war cohort going into their 80s and 90s), fewer young people to pay for them.
I think this is another 13th AHV payment in disguise.
If this 10% rule is passed, I think the biggest beneficiaries will be the older population living on modest pensions with their higher healthcare costs. My husband and I plus toddler pay around 4% of our wage on healthcare, but my mother in law pays closer to 20%…
What is to stop retirees from taking all their 2nd/3rd pillar as cash to minimise their annual income to claim the subsidy?
