> According to the poll conducted by MEGA TV, 66% of Greeks disagree with sending military equipment to Ukraine, and 29% agree with the government’s decision
That’s the important part IMO.
Not surprised there, personally – the Greeks, being in the ‘borders’ of Europe (but not too close to Russia) have many other threats to worry about; they probably see Russia/Ukraine as a ‘foreign’ conflict relatively.
Can’t wait for people to shit on Greeks for a change. Will be a nice quiet five minutes hopefully
I feel that Greeks are more worried about Turkey than about Russia, so they don’t won’t to gift too much of their to Ukraine.
>Athens is not planning to send more military equipment to Ukraine, Greek Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos said on Wednesday.
>
>(…)
>
>“The defence equipment we sent to Ukraine came from our stocks. There is no issue of sending more,” he told Greek lawmakers in a parliamentary discussion.
What?
I read that as the tune of “No more parties in LA”
Makes sense, Turkey was making a big fuss about “reclaiming lost islands” not so long ago, I get that Greece feel it’s guns are needed at home.
Sparta Says No Troops for Thermopylae
>Sparta is not planning to send more troops to Thermopylae, King Leonidas said on Wednesday.
>
>He said Lacedaemon’s defense of its own territory should not be weakened by sending more troops.
That’s 2 weeks or more ago statement and the reference was for the s-300 Greece haves in Crete.
Guys, why do you refuse to accept that the Greeks do not want to take part in this conflict? Russia is not an enemy of Greece and has never been. I can’t remember a single Greek-Russian conflict in 1000 years. The Greeks feel sorry for the Ukrainians, but they don’t want to participate in the murder of Russians.
Greece is a poor country. They have economic problems a decade now. Why don’t richer countries take the responsibility of sending something to Ukraine?
Greece is Russia’s Trojan Horse inside the EU…
well that’s sad. greece has a lot of old tanks they can’t afford to upgrade that ukraine would have gladly paid for.
I can’t blame any of the so-called PIGS for stopping shipments, they were fucked so much by merkel’s austerity rules most haven’t recovered.
if they dont have the surplus then thats fair. they gave what they could
Fuck Greece
In Europe we have the united and the not so united. This war will be remembered for a few generations.
Well if NATO wants us to send more weapons to the Ukraine it should probably stop acting dumb about the reason we have so many weapons in the first place and for once adress the reason without doing a Pontius Pilate hand washing trick every time the issue comes up, should be easy to handle since it’s in fact an internal matter….. till then I’m afraid we can’t spare any.
It really seems like Europe was united for the first 2 weeks of the war and the longer this goes on, the more in fighting is happening. Just look at Reddit, everyone starting to shit on each other. Putin probably knows this was gonna happen and just waiting it out. Lol
