How the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ positions US energy to be more costly for consumers and the climate. By slashing support for electric vehicles and home efficiency, the GOP-backed bill could drive up energy bills and slow climate progress.

  1. The Senate released its own version of the bill this week. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/16/us/politics/senate-bill-medicaid-cuts.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Pk8.W1ZE.uJ3UoSarNXOZ&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

It still slashes the EV tax credit within 180 days of passage. It kills off payments for individuals to install heat pumps and rooftop solar. But, it keeps some clean-energy tax credits in place longer than the house bill…

    > In another notable change, the Senate bill would preserve existing tax credits for companies that build nuclear reactors, geothermal plants, hydropower dams or battery storage through 2033. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and some companies had urged Congress to keep credits for so-called base load electricity sources that can operate at all hours, unlike wind and solar power.

But pays for them with deeper Medicaid cuts.

  2. By design. GOP intentionally cuts services and raises prices. So now you pay more for less. This grift has been going on since the 1960s.

  3. It is almost like the Republicans care more about big industries (ex.
coal and oil) making profits than they do about the life of our planet, or the health of its inhabitants.

  4. I’m sure with Elons help, this will be prevented.
