Anxious about Sinn Fein getting into power?

  1. EU national working in Dublin. I don’t really follow Irish politics as I’m a public servant so I need to be apolitical.

I’m not scared about the leftism scare (SF policies aside), remember that fella, SF counciler that had to resign due to comments about Varadkars blood not having the Irish memory or some shit like that during 20′ election.

Blood purity politics, then I read the manifesto. Notice where immigration is, between two types of crime, one of them being violent sexual crimes?

First line reads like the Tory Brexit manifesto, no to open borders, but we will take people when the HSE needs them? Fearful that public homes turns into public homes for Irish people first, fear justified?

  2. That’s what happens when you claim to be left wing but a large part of your parties following hate the foreigners. Just look at any SF group on FB. Look after our own first etc theme is prevalent

  3. Well if managed migration, an end to fraudulent student visas, streamlining of the asylum process to remove spoofers, and deportation of foreign national criminals is being offered by a mainstream political party is on offer at the next election, that’s who will get high preferences from me.

  4. I mean it’s hard to not sound anti immigrant when you say it but most people do want controls on immigration. Their position on it isn’t particularly radical and would be a view shared by most people.

  5. I’d rather have genuine proper controls on immigration. I don’t mind genuine migrants or refugees but anyone trying to misled the state by getting rid of documents, multiple appeals should be refused. I’m also against importing people to fill jobs like hospitality because those businesses have crap pay and horrible hours and are unwilling to pay a decent living wage.

I feel like FF and FG are importing people for this reason more than any humanitarian efforts has they and the people they socialise with are these very type of business people. FG said once that Ireland was a great place to do business and they weren’t lying but that represended more the corporations rather than the average worker.

  6. I might consider voting for them so. Fair controls sound like a good thing while McEntee awards those who broke the law with visas.

This undocumented nonsense makes a mockery of those who did things legally

  7. This is a good thing why are you all so open borders? Ye can’t let everybody into the country it’s just going to run the place down in the long run. Quality over quantity.

  8. I’m pro managing immigration much more stringently than what’s in place, but having listened to them on radio over the years Im not sure SF are really serious about this.

  9. The ‘Sinn Fein doesn’t want open borders’ part was concerning but tbf they justified it an explained it pretty well.

They’re still going to allow refugee in and migrant workers for vacancies that need filling. Its not exactly “building a a wall”
