As long as they moved it the moment a car is in sight, I wouldn’t have a problem.
Yes, it’s light weight and easy to move. When I was a kid, we generally had someone as a lookout in case a car was coming!
All good until I want to drive on that road, then I move it.
Not like they can’t move it if a car turns up. All good.
Yea? Why not, also has the positive side effect of slowing down traffic when kids are around.
Well if that silver car was mine I’d be moving it unless I wanted football marks all over it and a knackered mirror
I imagine it’s not the sort of street where you get people curtain twitching based on the basketball net base I can see on the grass as well
I mean, if it’s easy to put aside if needed and it ain’t a busy roa, which it looks like, yeah let them have fun
We just used jumpers, cones or occasionally cans when I was a kid. Apart from that seems pretty normal to me 🤷♂️
Kids playing outside instead having fun? No issues.
Just as long as its moved if a car comes, no issues.
Why?
Manchester United’s budget cuts are going too far.
Probably wouldn’t want my car behind it, depends how hard they’re kicking about.
Sure, that looks like a quiet enough road and they can move the goal out of the road if need be, it’s not like it’s placed on the inside lane of the M4.
Be the British version of Wayne’s World – game on, game off!
Seems a bit odd to use the road when the grass is right next to it (complete with basketball hoop). While I wouldn’t want my car to be the one behind it, if it’s a quiet cul de sac I see no problem with it. A bet a fair few of my neighbours wished we’d had a net when I was a kid.
Yes as long as the shoutout CAR! And move it out the way
Yeah, if it’s a quiet street and the kids know to move it when the car comes. We just used to have jumpers for goal posts (cue Ron Manager impression)
My childhood in 70s central London was this! (But with cones for goals)
Kids in my street do this .. my issue isn’t the placement, its that they use my drive like they own it and hit my car with the balls
Depends how good their aim is
Needs a good lookout strategy and then you’re fine, especially as it looks like a cul de sac or service road so traffic is likely to be light.
I probably wouldn’t say anything but I don’t know why they wouldn’t put the goal on the grass and play there
Absolutely. While they’re at it, they should get a bike, a ramp and jump a few kids lying down too.
Totally allowed kids outside enjoying the weather socialising IRL…… like we used to do and everybody complains that they don’t do enough of now !!
Yea but they could still hoof it over or miss and and twat a car windscreen
This basically created all the amazing English footballers you pay loads to watch on sky. Proper grassroots football.
This is crazy.
We scream at the kids for being inside gaming and on social media.
Now we’re questioning whether they should be playing outside, exactly like we did as kids
Poor fuckers can’t win.
CAAAAAAR! , It’s a van, VAAAAAAAN.
Having grown up in Canada, this brings a tear to my eye.
You should be going slow on that road anyway. And I’m not sure it’s busy, and it clearly isn’t fixed in place.
What’s the issue with letting kids play as long as they move out of the way I see no issue here.
No different to when we played ‘kerby’ in the 90s. Like a previous post said – as long as they move when a car comes, what’s the problem.
Kids will be kids.
If it’s on a fairly quiet road or one that idiots don’t race along, then not a problem
Yep… I would encourage it
Let the children play.
At their age, they don’t realise how their shouting is disturbing your nap or how their goal blocking the road is mildly inconveniencing you. They just want to play.
For your own stress levels, let it go.
Everywhere usually has signs saying “No ball games”. The road does not, these are smart kids.
depends on the street. what is traffic like in that location, down my street it would be perfectly fine, its a long culdesac and has no through traffic, all the locals drive chill when theres kids about.
If I was the keeper I’d be insisting footballers on the road, goals and goalkeeper on the grass.
Depends how old the kids are. I wouldn’t want teens smashing the ball and inevitably missing if I owned the cars behind…
Imho it makes more sense to encourage them to play futnet in the street. Better suited since that whole game is intentionally designed to exercise finer control of the ball, so much lower risk of hitting a car / window. Plus there’s really no risk of them running in front of cars.. they’ll be standing there already, visible.
I take more issue with the car parked half on the pavement that with easily-moved goal posts.
If we’re going to get our heckles up about people taking up space, lets get our priorities in order
Looks great, although I would position it so a miss on goal wouldn’t put a dent in a car behind it.
