Thirty-one areas given cash to boost bus services

  1. Everyone works from home these days, the only people using buses are pensioners and school kids, both of which generally have their travel subsidised/paid for. Waste of money.

  2. This is excellent. And not just because the North East is getting some money.

Buses have been criminally neglected for years. Probably because they’re brilliant in the capital and journalists only travel by train when they leave London.

  3. Wish the article talked more about what the changes will involve rather than just the backlash from areas missing out. I’m excited about this even though I don’t live in an area selected for the funding

  4. For such a small country getting from A to B on public transport can be very convoluted and expensive. The worst thing we did was closing train lines, then never investing anything but roads. Distance between a lot of towns, cities, suburbs and out of town centres could be done by light rail or tram systems if we only had the foresight, still some opportunity now.
