The conflict between Israel and Iran has entered its sixth day of open hostilities, with fresh Israeli airstrikes targeting military and nuclear sites in Tehran overnight.
Dozens of Israeli fighter jets struck a key uranium enrichment facility and multiple missile manufacturing sites, the IDF said, in what it calls a move to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
Explosions shook parts of Tehran on Tuesday night as anti-aircraft fire lit up the skies. Residents have reportedly begun fleeing the capital in large numbers, with traffic gridlocked and gas stations overwhelmed.
On Wednesday, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned Washington that any US involvement in the conflict would lead to “irreversible damage”.
Reports have indicated that US President Donald Trump is weighing US military involvement, including possible strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, following high-level security briefings.
Several high-profile US politicians have attempted to block the move.
