Manchester Airport: Police could help tackle “chaos”, mayor says

  1. >Police and fire and rescue service staff could be drafted in to help tackle the chaos at Manchester Airport, the region’s mayor has said.

I’m sure the underfunded, under-staffed, under-resourced police and fire brigade would _love_ to be drafted in as glorified security guards to compensate for piss poor management at the airport.

  2. not The Army? They do everything else, like lorry driving, vaccinating, farming etc.
I bet their Sgt Majors could sort out people who put a kid in a queue then 26 people join him when he gets near the front of it.

  3. The reason they have staff shortages is the appalling low wages they’re offering. The Guardian reported seeing job adverts for drivers starting at £13,000 salary and for security including night and weekend shifts at just £10.03 an hour.
