WASHINGTON (TNND) — President Donald Trump placed two flag poles on the north and south lawns of the White House.

These are the most magnificent poles made – They are tall, tapered, rust proof, rope inside the pole, and of the highest quality,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Hopefully, they will proudly stand at both sides of the White House for many years to come!”

The American flags were raised after the installation on Wednesday morning. During the installation, Trump spoke with construction workers, throwing it back to his days overseeing construction projects.

“I love construction,” Trump told reporters. “I know it better than anybody.”

Trump said that the flagpoles are 100 feet tall and paid for out of his pocket.

He emphasized that the flag poles are something the White House has needed for years.

“They’ve needed flag poles for 200 years,” he said. “It was something I’ve often said, ‘they don’t have a flag pole.’”

The White House has one flagpole on the roof that waves the American flag 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Since 2019, the POW/MIA flag has also flown over the White House.

The president of the United States has his flag, which features an eagle against a dark blue field, but it does not fly over the White House. Presidents have some authority over which flags are displayed at the White House. Former President Joe Biden adorned the White House with an LGBT Pride flag to commemorate Pride Month.

The White House in 1918 flew a Serbian flag alongside the American flag to commemorate “Serbia Day,” according to the U.S. Embassy in Serbia. The White House in 1920 also flew a French flag to recognize the 131st anniversary of Bastille Day.
