Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth was skewered at a Senate committee hearing by Jacky Rosen (NV-D) after trying to get out of a question with a ‘smirk.’

After Hegseth was asked if it was appropriate for social media personalities to influence decisions in his department, the Defense Secretary, refusing to answer, told Rosen, “I believe your time is up, Senator.”

This infuriated the Democrat, who shot back: “Oh, it is not up to you to tell me when my time is up. Well, the time and I am going to say, Mr. Secretary, you’re either feckless or complicit. You’re not in control of your department.”

She continued to tell him, “Yours is unserious. It is shocking. You’re not combating anti-Semitism within your ranks. It’s a dangerous and pivotal time in our nation’s history. Thank you, Mr. Chairman.”

Finally, Rosen finished with a behavioral correction: “I yield back, and I don’t appreciate the smirk, sir. You are the Secretary of Defense.”

A video of the moment has gone viral, drawing applause from many viewers.

One joked, “He can’t answer because Trump hasn’t told him what to say.” Another answered more seriously, suggested, “Hegseth isn’t tough — he’s just disrespectful. He doesn’t want questions. He wants control. And if this is how they act under pressure, imagine what they do when no one’s watching.”

Another said outright, “Hegseth hates women.”

This comes after Hegseth was ripped apart during by Illinois representative Tammy Duckworth, who laid into the Pentagon official, saying that he was an “unqualified yes man.” Duckworth also questioned Hegseth’s tattoos, which are specific religious symbols often referencing the Crusades.
