Another huge W for feminism, and a good reminder not to be fooled by the far-right rejection of it.
One of the great victories of feminism is that what was once radical and disruptive activism for women’s rights, and later respect, has become so normalized as to be taken for granted. In millennials such as myself, the idea that women are not comprehensively equal to men is so foreign as to be anathema. Even openly sexist people couch their words in disclaimers like “Umm I’m actually an *egalitarian* sweaty 💅”
I hope the general trend towards equality continues, and the more recent man-o-sphere embodied by that fucker Andrew Tate doesn’t infect the Zoomers.
I would prefer a girl too if i was to have a child. Even as a boy, i always felt that girls just had things figured out more than boys. They were held back for most of human history, so this is truly a very interesting development. Everyone thinks the boys need help, but what if there is nothing wrong with boys and girls are just inherently smarter on average? Im not trying to be misandrist or misogynist, but we already know men and women have differences. What if women are just better at academic work, which leads to better career opportunities than for men who barely finish high school? I dont have answers, im just curious what people think.
It’s great to see society making progress on the fight against sexism against women, but it’s worrying that the fight against sexism towards men has had little to no progress.
> Boys around the world are struggling in the modern era. They increasingly underperform in education… In the US, 20 percent of American men between 25 and 34 still live with their parents, compared to 15 percent of similarly aged women.
I do find this a bit sad. Rather than encouraging the boys to be the best versions of themselves, you have the supposed “male figures” blaming the opposite side for this and causing the situation to worsen.
