  1. Get decent travel insurance.

How come though we don’t appear able to collect medical fees from foreign visitors?

  2. Basic holiday insurance does not cover you for any type of moped / bike accident. I know this speaking as an ex holiday rep for years and pleading with holidaymakers to not hire them.

The ones that did had a 50/50 crash ratio.

  3. his insurance company deemed he was not covered they paid out 50k as a measure of good will yet this scrote still put them on blast. After a 3 second view on Google maps i agree with the insurance assessors.

*”To assess his claim, we conducted a thorough review, including a site investigation, due to the limited information Mr Gibson and his girlfriend initially provided.*

*Based on the investigation and the statements provided by both of them, we understand Mr Gibson was injured while climbing the Na Muang waterfall and taking a photograph at the top of the waterfall, despite multiple warning signs of the dangers of slipping or falling due to the terrain and slippery rocks. The information provided to us included Mr Gibson confirming that he wasn’t wearing appropriate footwear, given the dangerous nature of the site.”*

Also the limited information bit is a clear indicator where someone has done something they shouldn’t have and they think providing limited or vague information will help their claim go through.

  4. Insurance paid £50k he paid £25k. Not bad considering he would be dead right now. £25k for your life is good value for money.

  5. Travel insurance is one of the easiest and cheapest valuable things one can purchase.

  6. As usual a crowdfunder is running to pay for the incompetence

No point getting insurance just go on holiday and if something goes wrong get others to pay for it

  7. I don’t think there’s been a time where I see these sort of articles and the person has had adequate travel insurance

  8. These is plenty of facility to help this lad out if he is indeed serving.

  9. Uk government needs to step in and protect our citizens, instead of farting about with whatever they’re farting about with just now.

  10. I have worked in travel/travel tech for 24years. I used to as part of my job way back, sell insurance.

There IS a difference in travel insurance offerings. It’s less wild west that it used to be but it’s very worth considering what you’re planning to do and looking at the fine print.

The big ones you want to consider is repatriation costs and exclusions. It can be ruinous if you dont fully understand these. And  Often the extra 10quid is a company that will pay out rather than one that will try to wriggle out

  11. Only slightly related.

If you plan to train Muay Thai or other combat sports in Thailand, you will need a dedicated extreme sports insurance not just “travel insurance”
