minnesota police say it’s a politically motivated shooting 55-year-old state lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were fatally shot multiple times in their home and a second state lawmaker Senator John Hoffman and his wife wounded in the early hours of Saturday investigators say the gunman was posing as a law enforcement officer and escaped after exchanging fire with police who responded at the scene these are public servants leaders who committed their lives to improving the lives of others and they were targeted in a violent and cowardly way the suspect exploited the trust of our uniforms that our uniforms are meant to represent authorities say Hoffman and his wife have undergone surgery and are expected to survive police are now on the hunt for the 57year-old suspect who fled the scene on foot after abandoning a vehicle in which police officers found a manifesto listing other lawmakers and officials minnesota Governor Tim Wall says the victim’s names were on the list all of them deliberately targeted this was an act of targeted political violence peaceful discourse is the foundation of our democracy we don’t settle our differences with violence or at gunpoint meanwhile Minnesota authorities are urging the public not to attend the no kings rallies planned around the state to protest President Donald Trump’s aggressive approach in major cities

Hundreds of law officers fanned out across a Minneapolis suburb Saturday in pursuit of a man who authorities say posed as a police officer and fatally shot a Democratic state lawmaker in her home in what Gov. Tim Walz called “a politically motivated assassination.” Authorities said the same suspect also shot and wounded a second lawmaker and was believed to be trying to flee the area.

  8. Since Trump and MAGA sadly this political violence is becoming increasingly prevalent in America. As far as I know Trump has not yet condemned the shootings. So horrifically sad.
