North Korean military conducted live-fire drills with a 240mm multiple launch rocket system, just a day after joint air exercises involving South Korea, the United States, and Japan. This was reported by the Yonhap news agency, citing South Korean military sources.
According to the information, around 10 a.m., 10 rockets were launched from the Sunan area near Pyongyang towards the Yellow Sea. South Korean military officials noted that this rocket system is capable of striking Seoul and surrounding areas.
Last year, North Korea already tested a new multiple launch rocket system, which, according to them, was equipped with a new guidance system.
Currently, South Korean intelligence services, together with American allies, are analyzing the data obtained and promise to provide additional information in the near future.
These tests took place against the backdrop of joint exercises aimed at strengthening trilateral cooperation in response to military threats from North Korea. The exercises involved South Korean F-15K fighters, U.S. F-16s, and Japanese F-2s.
Additionally, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently called for increased production of new artillery shells that meet the demands of modern warfare.
