Since when do police not accompany licence checkers when checking a bus? Everywhere I see them checking, a police group accompanies them
Self entitled brat gets reality check. Good.
Even if, and I say if, the controleurs were too brutal, this only happened because of a chain of events caused by the girls.
They boarded without a ticket, tried to fraud the system by sending an sms, knowing it’s not valid, refusing to identify yourself, which you have to do, since these people are authorized for it. The whole situation escalation because the girls didn’t cooperate.
People without valid ticket should not be able to board. Would avoid a lot of useless discussions like this.
This is what happens when their De Lijn’s standard tactics during a check, i.e. shouting and intimidation, doesn’t work.
If people call your bluff, there are two options, back-off (and losing all credibility) or escalation.
I’ve seen it happen a lot at Ostend railway station at the Kusttram about 15 years ago. They blocked the ticket validation machines on the tram because the chauffeur was getting substituted. Then just as the tram was starting and the machines were starting up, they would storm out of their office and fine everyone standing in line of getting their ticket validated. Most of the time they got into an argument, and used their number advantage to successfully intimidate the passengers.
