17. In East Germany, sports such as tennis, golf and a bunch of others were deemed as too bourgeois, elitist, leasurely and connected to the commercialism of the degenerate western imperialists.

    Of course, this had nothing to with the decision to focus the state sport and doping program on certain olympic sports in which the most medals could be won.
