Do you think they would be respected or vandalised as quickly as they would be added?

  1. there used to be a couple of more simple versions of these in the City of London. i don’t know if they’re still about tho lol

  2. There were a few one just close to the Tate modern but things get worn out pretty fast

  3. We’ve similar things, albeit just a public pump (possibly 1 or 2 tools maybe?).

As I recall they lasted a short time before getting wrecked.

  4. Yeap they have the same in France. Have seen them in train station next to the cycle racks

  5. saw one in the local high street, thought it’s neat

  6. We do have these some places on UK but they do get vandalised

  7. There’s one by the Sainsbury’s in Beckenham. Thought it was a brilliant idea when it was installed ten years ago. Never seen it used by anyone though

  8. Well, I had a flat tyre the other day, so my work had 3 broken pumps, I got enough air in to cycle to Hyda Park Tennis clubs which has one of these, no lever to make a seal on the pump, so I went towards Paddington where they have another of these, pump broken. As it was before rush hour, I took the train home with my bike .

  9. There are some in the UK, but local councils don’t have the budget to add many.

  10. saw one of these in outer london. small park with semi regular bicycle thoroughfare

  11. People talking about how they’d get vandalised/stolen in London like the ones in the photos aren’t connected to reinforced steel cables to stop them being nicked from the box that has clearly been vandalised.
Honestly, I feel like there’s a bunch of accounts whose day job is just posting shit about London here to drag as all down.

  12. I go pass the one by Ealing village on hanger lane a lot …never used it. I recall seeing another in london but can’t remember where….yeah they’re pretty sparse.

  13. There’s one right by a volunteer kitchen by Latimer road. Hasn’t been vandalised yet in the couple years its been there

  14. My local petrol station would charge you a £1 for the air.
    Great idea.

  15. Problem is a lot of low grade scumbags come along with bolt cutters and ruin these things for everyone. Crawley used to have a few but didn’t last long before the tools were cut off and stolen and the pump ruined.

  16. I thought this was an old internet street cabinet that someone stole the wiring out of for a second

  17. We had one.  It was smashed to bits within 2 weeks, and I live in a relatively nice part of London

  18. Euston Station has something similar. Also one in Hackney.

  19. We have almost the same thing near barking station 🤷‍♀️

  20. A new one was installed in Boston Manor Park quite recently.

  21. I’ve seen something very similar in Southampton (by The Common) but never in London

  22. Two of them have been installed in my area, the first one had pair of pliers with built in wire cutters, all tools got stolen in 48h. 2nd one have no tools to cut wire included, but it’s put soo close to bike racks that nobody want to use 4 racks situated closest to this tool stationt to lock their bikes 🙂

  23. Had one of those installed at the entrance of a park near me about a month ago. Big announcement on the council’s website. Next day every cable had been cut through and the tools? Gone!

  24. Seen these about a few times in London – never needed to use them but they’ve looked complete and functional.

  25. London does benefit from these. There’s one in my local park. North London. I’ve seen them around. Not super common but they do exist.

  26. People in the UK dont have same values as European counterparts. They’d be stolen/wrecked in a heartbeat
