Covid restrictions left young children lacking social skills

  1. £770 billion on non pharma interventions, stoking inflation. Perhaps 5-10% of that lost to fraud.

400,000 businesses folded as of October 2021

    Kids left with developmental issues

Fathers prevented from being with their partners during birth

Families prevented from being with their loved ones when they passed

    Mental health tsunami

    Lockdown was a fucking disaster.

  2. But I was reliably informed that children are resilient and will bounce back!

    How can this be?

edit: the only correct answers to this post are below the threshold. noice. you people deserve every terrible thing that happens to you, enjoy your inflation

  3. Quite the response to the folks in here who were saying that not closing schools was a literal deliberate attempt to kill off teachers.

And this isn’t to mention the loss of education for all kids as a result of closing schools; one that was especially felt by poorer kids.

EDIT: Not posting the link as I’ll likely cop a ban, but when I say the above, I mean people were literally and directly saying “Teachers aren’t part of the Conservatives base, so they literally want to kill them. That’s been their MO for decades”. That’s a quote verbatim from a post a year ago on this subreddit.

  4. Unpopular opinion.

Parents did not help and chose not to help each time lockedowns were eased as well as societal group think.

    Everyone dropped the ball.

  5. Sadly can’t respond to some of our “skeptics”.

But yeah lockdown was bad and had bad effects.

    No one denied otherwise.

It was a case of which was worse…

Edit: Sad state of affairs when people who have expertise and data are ignored over people who want to go to the pub.

Also predictable and sad that people are ignoring how serious the situation was, let aone how serious it could have been.

  6. How did “some babies” become “A GENERATION”

Pre-pandemic you still had numbers of babies having the exact same issues.

My baby was walking at 11 months and speaks a ton at a year and 3 months… so mine is certainly not included in the “GENERATION” of lost babies

  7. I used to work in a primary school across all age groups, the 6 weeks holiday is bad enough because a lot of parents do absolutely nothing with their kids and it shows, covid must have been a total nightmare for teachers.

    In our school we had:

a room with a bed, for kids who were being kept up all night by parents arguing/partying

a washing machine for kids who came in with clothes that never got cleaned

a fridge with extra food for kids who werent being fed at home

our safeguarding lead was basically a full time therapist and was constantly seeing off parents at the gate who had turned up drunk, or turned up to pick a kid up when it wasn’t their day etc
    we’ve also had:

kids who come back to school who have regressed to not being potty trained because they’ve basically been ignored all summer.

kids from immigrant parents who come back in September unable to speak English because their parents/older family members don’t know how to.
You can really tell when parents care and put the time in because their kids are lightyears ahead of most of the class.

  8. Yeah we should have let Covid run riot like the Swedes did because nothing teaches kids social skills like a long stint in an orphanage.

  9. I work in a school and I can honestly say it’s had a massive affect on children. The worst year groups at the moment are year 1 & 2. Behaviour has slipped a bit too!

It’s hard because we’ve got to make some allowances for this but obviously still need them to learn. So it’s difficult some days to get a perfect balance. It’s such a shame for them!

  10. If only we could have foreseen the many, many, many impacts of lockdowns. If only there were some people who said it was a bad idea, imagine if people actually listened to them and thought for themselves rather than just lapping up cr*p spewed out by proven liars known as politicians. If only we`d have questioned it rather than blindly accepting and ignoring the long list of issues they would cause in all aspects of life for people with their whole lives ahead of them. Do you really think your elderly neighbour gives a sh1t you lost your business or now have MH issues and your kids don`t know how to socialise properly? Guess what, they really couldn`t care less, I`ve not had 1 thank you from a vulnerable or elderly person for giving up 2 years of my life! No acknowledgement of sacrifices and losses. All I`ve had is snotty looks for daring to go about my business maskless (which I am legally and completely allowed to do btw) by the few who are still petrified by the media scaremongering for a virus with a 99.97% recovery rate that we have vaccines, pills and other medicine for! Lockdowns were an unscientific, knee jerk, panicked reaction. Following a communist countries lead is a mistake I hope the civilised world never does again.
