BRNO (Czechia) – The Quarter-Finals of FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 are within touching distance for Czechia after they claimed a comfortable Group C victory against Portugal to make it two wins in 24 hours.
Now hoping Belgium will live up their top-billing and take a victory against Montenegro, that would be enough to catapult the co-hosts into the last eight and make it even more of a party in the Czech city.
Czechia step a little closer to Pireaus
Eliska Hamzova typfied the display of Czechia with a smart team-centered effort.
It was another impressive display for the home fans in Brno to enjoy as Czechia came out firing once again and this time ending up striding purposefully past Portugal 73-49. The outcome didn’t look to be in doubt after a strong opening period and once they dominated the newcomers 21-8 in the second quarter, they were on the road to victory and out of sight.
It was a beautifully balanced and paced team performance, once again sharing the ball and handing out plenty of assists – all of which contributed to every single Czechia player scoring. Eliska Hamzova was arguably the pick of the crop with 9 points and 4 assists, while Julia Reisingerova added a team-high 11 points.
