  1. I bet they’d describe ist as Industrial Chic

  2. Lower Clapton is quite spenny and quite central. Not saying this is a great property, but the price/quality ratio is not _necessarily_ representative

  3. To be fair, it’s a short term sublet in a very popular area and all it needs is a bit of paint.

  4. Yet it’s still at least four times the size of the room I rented for £800 ~10 years ago

  5. A slight upgrade from living under the stairs I suppose

  6. Ah Clapton – oh yes, the murder mile!

This comment might be a bit dated…

  7. If you’ve ever met someone moving to lower Clapton you would know it looks like that on purpose

  8. It looks fine? The area is trendy and I guess rustic is the look they are going for. £900 is cheap for short term let

  9. It’s actually not a bad-sized room. But yeah a lick of paint would have been nice.

  10. Tbh that’s a good deal, 6 years ago i was paying £900 for a room that was probably smaller in Bermondsey

  11. I’ve seen prison cells that look more glam than that pile of shit

  12. Wow how ‘edgy’ must have so much ‘character’

  13. Hang on, is London expensive or something? First I’ve heard of it.

  14. Seems comparable to NYC or most major cities like HK and others.

  15. I pay just over £700 for my flat in the south of Oxfordshire and it’s pretty spacious.

As for this Dickensian nightmare, I wouldn’t even pay £9 for it!

  16. That live, laugh, love sign really brings this dingy shithole together.

  17. Lazy cunts need to stain block and paint the wall first wtf

  18. Only way to change this bs and improve our living standards is to tax the ultra rich. Rent and housing prices are a joke.

  19. It’s so…. Rustic farmhouse 😍😍😍 where’s the barn doors?

  20. Not bad. That stained wall gives it some edgy character, like a starving artist vibe. The room is decent size. Here in Boston, this would probably be around USD1500 pm.

But then, this is in Clapton.

  21. If they have an issue with you doing/selling drugs, then they shouldn’t be letting out a drug den.

  22. being a landlord is getting easy, you don’t even need to finish the interior of a house anymore because some creative is going to love this.

  23. Gang, we need to raise our fucking standards. These comments are wild.

  24. This is why I still live with my parents and I don’t give a shit about what anyone says about it.

At least while I live in London that is.

  25. It looks like a room from a Charles Dickens book 😂😂😂

  26. I was so mad they’ve turned comments off – shit lets on friends of friends is a goldmine for comedy

  27. Live in the heart of Clapton, Hackney with this ultra-stylish, raw-finish room that blends East London edge with loft-style luxury. The stripped walls and textured, distressed look create a bold, artistic atmosphere — think boutique gallery meets warehouse chic. At just £900, this is a rare find in one of London’s trendiest neighbourhoods — authentic, character-filled, and seriously underpriced.

  28. Huge room and it’s a sublet. They like that late 90s grunge style.

  29. I was a young grad in 2012 with a kid on the way and rented an entire flat in ldn for £800pcm that was suitable for my young family and my salary of 40k was just enough to support all three of us .

I have no idea what a 22yo me would do in the same situation in 2025.

I thought I had it bad trying to get my life started (and I did ) but it is really concerning how much more difficult it is getting

  30. Living by literally candle light in 2025. East London, you scamp.

  31. yeah thats not a bad price for that size room, and if bills included too then a bargain, specially in that area. Rental prices are fucked and have been for ages, this is nothing new. A room for £800-£1000 is standard in London

  32. A lot of people saying “I pay/paid more for a much worse room”…that doesn’t make it ok! It just proves how fucking dire the housing situation has always been in London!

  33. The return to Victorian slums is almost complete.
