  1. Yeah I’m totally clicking a link from “politicsnigeria.com”

  2. From what I understand, there is even a potato shortage in Ruzzia

  3. correct me if im wrong but isnt that ironic that litterllaly nobody would be affected of a russian recession but russia itself? cant think of any EU member getting into recession without hurting others i mean i cant think of anything russia exports or produces than terror attacks

  4. My sympathies in advance for minister’s unfortunate fall from a seventh story balcony.

  5. Said minister “has been found dead after slippage from windows in his basement flat” article incoming.

  6. If they are admitting they are in a recession after also admitting they are too broke to defend their bestie, the Islamic Republic, against Israel and Iranians taking down the regime, then they are in a depression and really mean they are “on the verge of economic collapse”.

And China doesn’t give a fuck to bail Putin out, either. They’ll wait for his collapse, cross the border and help themselves to what they want and prop up the citizens, in the greatest Belt and Road/Chinese expansionist initiative ever.

  7. I’ve been under the impression that Russia has been in a recession for decades, but I guess that’s just how Russia is???

  8. If Russia admits something like this, it must be far worse than we suspect.

  9. The minister shouted it while leaping out a tenth floor window.

  10. Quick! Trump better prolong that Iran war and keep oil prices up

  11. As long as inflation is high enough, you can avoid a recession. Someone should tell them this

  12. If only there was a way for them to start fixing russia..

  13. Even with their economy overheating due to government war spending they’re about to enter a recession.. yikes!

  14. “sanctions are not working”

They definitely put massive pressure on russia. Surely, you can compensate for a while but a war economy isn’t sustainable at all.

  15. >Russian economy on brink of recession, says minister
    >Minister urges central bank to show economy some ‘love’
    >Putin has urged officials not to freeze Russia’s economy
    >Economy overheated during military-fuelled spending spree

Summary from Reuters and that sounds promising.

  16. I think I have a solution: maybe stop killing Ukraniane?

  17. Is this what happens when you throw half of the population in a meat grinder?

  18. Mama Trump is doing everything he can to make sure that doesn’t happen.

  19. Translation: The Russian economy is in a full scale depression.

  20. war is business, when you suck it at you’re gonna have a bad time

  21. Which means they’ve been in a recession for years and the economy is on the verge of total collapse.

  22. Russia will have to borrow money to pay soldiers and police but with their 20% interest rate they will then have to borrow more money to pay the interest on that loan.

A few years of 20% loans and ever increasing debt will quickly spiral their national debt from around 20% of GDP to well over 100% of GDP at which point no one will want to lend them money anymore because they will realize Russia won’t be able to pay it back.

The price of oil is going up thanks to the Israel-Iran war though and it will probably take 4-5 ish years for Russia’s debt to reach the catastrophic levels that would implode the country financially and end the war.

Countries at war can persist while in decline for years.

I think pressuring countries to pay reduced price instead of market rates for Russia’s oil is a good idea and we should double down on china and india.

This is also why Trump’s trade war is bad. Burning the USA’s soft power and leverage in the trade war makes it much harder to get anyone to listen when you ask them to distance themselves from Russia or pressure Russia economically.

If you want the war in Ukraine to end then you need to support Ukraine economically and pressure Russia economically so that Russia see’s that it won’t win this war of attrition and gives up sooner rather than later.

  23. It’s not a recession. It’s a special financial operation

  24. IMAGINE IF THAT BIG LAND USED ITS RESOURCES, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND ITS EFFORTS TO PROMOTE GLOBAL PROGRESS AND WELL-BEING..

    Russia… what a fucking waste

  25. Changes nothing to the situation in Ukraine. People who started this shit will live as they lived before and Russia will always find money for the war effort.

  26. If he’s saying “on the verge”, it means they’re in a recession. He’s also asking the central bank to lower rates (currently at 20%), but inflation is still very high, and the high rates aren’t helping. So, Russia is entering a period with high inflation and negative growth. 2025 was exactly the year when this was predicted by serious economists (not the “russia will collapse any moment now” crowd). The great thing is that neither the central bank, nor the economic ministry have any levers to right the ship. They can’t borrow, the reserves are gone, there’s no new revenue to be had, and they can’t pull out of Ukraine because their entire economy is on war footing, which will collapse as soon as they stop supporting the war.

This does not mean that Russia will collapse and the war will stop, but I’m really, really curious what impact this will have on the war. I’m guessing they will have a really hard time paying for importing any components required for advanced equipment, but a recession will help them recruit troops. I’m guessing we’ll see much higher Russian casualties in the coming months than the previous running average.

  27. Has that minister been defenestrated yet? The clock is ticking.

  28. 🎶  Dun dun dun, another one bites the dust… 🎶

Dudes going to find a window real soon. Look at his predecessor.  Octarian “committed suicide” from her balcony for saying the exact same thing.

  29. It is way worse… If you factor in all the money going to war. And still you are near recession… Guess what, you’re probably in a depression.

  30. It’s amazing a country the size Russia has a GDP smaller than Italy.
