Nowhere in the eurostat data does it say that Swiss families are making 179k/yr on average. Only the 101k figure is listed.
” A family is two earning parents, both making exactly the average wage, with two dependent children.”
OK, but why?
seems unlikely that the average family has two adults, both of which work full time with two dependent children.
so it’s the average income of a made up european family, not the average income of the average european family.
could just label the chart as “twice the average income of a european adult”
What does child benefits mean? Does not paying a kidney for kindergarten count as a benefit for Iceland?
MEDIAN Swiss household income is like 85k CHF.
This seems to be 2x MEAN individual income, which is A) wrong because not many families with kids have 2x 100% incomes, and B) highly misleading because the MEAN is heavily skewed by high earners.
So Turkey is the way to go ?
Purchasing Power is so high that we cannot even afford to buy a house.
I just don’t see it. The fixed costs for the Swiss are so insane with children that you’re basically depleted, even with two working adults earning above average 125k CHF a year.
Correct the Swiss flag or ill haunt you
Bullshit graph. Now subtract health insurance and rent and you’ll see what is left….
Anyway, wrong swiss flag…
All the debate about it being 2 adult incomes, it’s the same way it’s calculated for other countries? PPS should account for high rents. Only thing not included is maybe health insurance. Probably if thats taken into account we’re not that better off from the other top 5 countries
Deduct accommodation, healthcare and daycare costs for the average family to get back to reality.
The average Swiss family is by far not rich. The prices are designed and kept to skin alive the average Swiss.
179K? With two fathers and two mothers?
I have to call my boss. I’m waaaaaaaay underpaid
Purchasing power is so high that I have to live in my parents house at age 29 because housing is unaffordable
Maybe this graphic is not accurate, as in Switzerland, 10% of the population need help to pay the health insurance. Buying power is not the same for everybody.
…we, the majority of Swiss families, are fast bankrupt. Indebted and unable to buy a house without debt enslavement for the whole life
Now let’s look at wealth disparity stats
