Speaking as an NCHD that has left Ireland with the atrocious working conditions as a large driving factor, this is heartening to see.
There are so many entrenched issues in the HSE with the treatment of NCHDs as so much more grist for the mill.
You won’t find a single doctor that actually wants to strike – and I have no doubt if it moves to reaching that stage the government and media will start tarring us with allegations of putting patients at risk. Don’t be fooled. This sort of protest is directly aimed at ensuring a higher standard of patient safety on a day to day basis for years to come, with current substandard levels of care directly caused by the political and managerial focus on cost cutting.
