3. The current situation itself could rightly be described as a catastrophe.

4. Americans don’t care. If they did they’d stop electing Republicans who call it a Chinese hoax. But they don’t. They know climate change is real, they bitch about the heat and storms every fucking year, yet they refuse to do anything about it.

   >Online bots and trolls hugely amplify false narratives, the researchers say, playing a key role in promoting climate lies. The experts also report that political leaders, civil servants and regulatory agencies are increasingly being targeted in order to delay climate action.

8. Action needed to be taken 25 years ago, but nobody cares, and the people in charge are so dumb they don’t even believe it’s real. The population is rising exponentially, and industry has only ramped up despite promises of carbon neutrality. Humanity is speedrunning its own extinction.

15. I always come back to Carl Sagan asking why are countries willing to spend billions on military preparation in the hopes they’ll never have to actually go to war but preparing for the worst case scenario, but are not willing to prepare the worst case scenario here.

18. Public are not going to take the “climate crisis” seriously. When the only solution given is more expensive and less effective power.
    When manufacturing continues to be moved overseas to Countries that pollute even more, dumping untreated waste into the oceans.

24. The only thing keeping me mentally afloat on this topic. Is how seemingly better situation become, or at least it’s facade, when everyone was forced to stay home, due to COVID, all those stories about dolphins in Venice, etc. Im in no way denying the severity of the situation, but on some level, I have a hope we’re greatly overestimating the efforts, we would have to apply, to turn back. Don’t tell me, please, if it was all a hoax, I value my mental health.
