I’m in Spain this week, and I have to say this: Semana Santa is fucking creepy here.

  1. You mix religious and military, creepy costumes, people crying and yelling… this is recipe for worst that can happen to humanity: dictators, religious manipulation, righ wing conservative traditions. What’s your view on this?

  2. There are many historical reasons why Spanish christianism is so graphic, and it’s not meant to look modern. Don’t be so judgy. Show some respect.

“Fucking creepy”! Yeah not like starting a reddit thread showing how judgy and internet-obsessed you are…

  3. Dude, you do realize it is just a country performing traditions deeply rooted in their hystory and cultural heritage, right? There are plenty of places with traditions that might seem off to us that are not from that country, but those traditions are important for the people and they have the right to celebrate their culture

To what you are saying in other posts, as some other people have pointed out the costume came before the kkk, and as for the military, it’s just what I said before. Spain is deeply Christian (and I will say the military has always had a deep religiosity to it, due to the history of the country) so these people who are both proud of their faith and job like to express it

  4. The only thing that’s creepy is the dry empty, consumerist, Protestant Easter “celebrations”. Learn some culture. Guiri vete a casa.
