Preparation and a balanced energy mix is essential to meet demand during high temperatures, according to Alliant Energy. They say they are prepared to deliver reliable energy to customers in need.
However, to lower costs, customers can voluntarily reduce their energy use by following these tips:
Consider setting your thermostat to 78 degrees during the day and higher at night or while you’re away.Close the shades to keep the sun from warming rooms that causes your AC to kick in more often.Take cooler showers, wash clothes in cold water and adjust your water heater settings to 120 degrees.Clean or change your AC filters and the space around your air vents to allow air to move through easier and use less energy.Have a professional tune up your AC unit to keep it performing correctly.
