A dog named Ella, an Australian Heeler, was evacuated from Donbas and found a new home in Germany. In November 2024, she and her eight puppies were rescued by animal volunteer Olena Mosiychuk from Dnipro. She shared that after the evacuation, the animals spent half a year in her shelter, while German volunteers actively helped find new owners for Ella.
Eventually, a family from Reilingen decided to take the dog. Olena notes that the new owners already have four dogs and treat all their animals like their own children.
“When they saw Ella, they said she was theirs. I think she had been waiting for a long time. When they came for her, they put her in a crate, and she calmly sat down. On the way, this girl was sending me videos; she behaved very politely. She was happy. That was happiness for her. That smile she had on the first day when I was taking her out, when she sat in the back seat, was exactly the same as when she ran away from the little ones,”

Olena continues to follow Ella’s life, as the new owners send her photos and videos daily. She notes that the dog sleeps with them in bed and with the other dogs, and no one mistreats her. Olena emphasizes that Ella lives in peaceful conditions in her new home, where there is no danger.
“She sleeps with them in bed. And with the other dogs. No one hurts her there. It’s great that in such quiet conditions nothing flies around, nothing is bombed,”

Although Olena has already grown attached to Ella and misses her, she understands that the dog has better living conditions in Germany.
“I’m glad she will live as long as the universe has planned for her, and maybe because she was taken to peace and quiet, she will live longer. We simply gave her a chance. I’m happy; that’s what you work for,”

Five puppies, whom Ella gave birth to in a sewage pit in Donetsk region, are still looking for new owners. Olena hopes they will be as lucky as their mother.
