Tucked into Vienna’s tallest residential tower, A by Adina nails the balance between premium comfort and unbothered cool, quietly redefining hotel-living. Launched in April 2025, this is the first European outing from the Australian-born brand, showcasing premium apartment hotels that blend into their modern surroundings while bringing a distinctly contemporary Australian twist.

Hotel

a by adina lobbyThis recently opened aparthotel occupies several floors of Vienna’s tallest residential tower

Set on the banks of the Danube, A by Adina spans several floors of the skyscraper. On the fifth floor you’ll find Lotties, the sleek yet warm in-house bar and restaurant, and a 24-hour reception. An all-inclusive spa on the fourth level, complete with multiple saunas and a private heated infinity pool, offers panoramic views of the Austrian capital and invites you to settle comfortably into your short or extended stay.

Just minutes from the U-Bahn and a 20-minute drive from the airport, A by Adina puts you close enough to Vienna’s historical centre without being swamped by tourists. The Danube Island (Donauinsel) – a man-made, urban beach with al fresco bars – is a short stroll away and a Billa supermarket sits beneath the tower for any late-night snack or wine run.

Pro tip: Keep the hotel address handy for taxi drivers, as it’s still a newcomer on Vienna’s hotel map.

Room

a by adina roomAll 120 studios and apartments share the same ethos of thoughtful, self-sufficient design

Designed by Viennese firm BWM Designers and Architects, all 120 studios and apartments share the same ethos of thoughtful, self-sufficient design. Eucalyptus greens, oak wood finishes, and dark marble combine in a subtle nod to the Australian landscape, with a touch of Scandi-retreat calm.

Room options include one- or two-bedroom studio apartments, perfect for couples, each with a fully equipped kitchen, wash-dryer, coffee machine, and capsules. The Destination A rooms, designed with business travellers and C-suite guests in mind, offer something extra: a separate bedroom, stylish lounge, private terrace, and exclusive services such as à la carte breakfast, flexible check-in and check-out times, complimentary in-room movie streaming, and my personal favourite, The Daily Pause – a cocktail service with signature drinks served in the lounge or delivered to your suite. Every bathroom is stocked with skincare from Australian natural brand, Hunter Lab.

Also worth noting: Pets are welcome, and check-out is set for a very civilised midday.

Food and drink

lotties a by adinaLotties is the perfect, intimate setting for a meal any time of day

Designed like your dream modern living room, with pops of colour and tasteful furnishings, Lotties is the perfect, intimate setting for a meal any time of day. Come for the breakfast buffet (or order à la carte) and stay for a cocktail or two with a city view. Try their signature Negronis or an Old Fashioned infused with smoked eucalyptus. Skip the schnitzel for a night and indulge in a rotating menu of elevated bar bites and shareable plates. During my visit, the chefs leaned into Austral-Asian flavours – think crispy karaage chicken, pulled pork bao bun, and gyoza.

To do

schonbrunn palaceVienna is spacious yet walkable and is known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. Image credit: Bigstock/dziewul

Open 5am to 10pm, the state-of-the-art wellness centre and infinity pool is as good for early risers as it is for post-sightseeing soaks. In summer, the pool and relaxing sundeck and lounge bar is the perfect place to take refuge. In winter, don’t be put off – the pool is heated to 35 degrees and is just as inviting.

Vienna is spacious but walkable – perfect for gallery-hopping, palace gazing or strolling through manicured gardens. My top suggestion is to take a detour to a leafy heuriger (traditional Austrian wine tavern by boutique wineries), just 15 minutes away by car. Wind down in this peaceful part of Vienna and enjoy what Austria does best – excellent, local white wines! Oh, and don’t forget to try a schnitzel.

In a nutshell

A by Adina is a great base for both travellers and long-term business stays. This impressive new arrival offers peace and quiet with the space of an apartment and the comforts of a boutique hotel, letting you recharge before diving into everything Vienna has to offer.
