Would death of Iran’s supreme leader see regime collapse? • FRANCE 24 English

having already killed a number of leading military figures Israel has started talking about regime change in Iran for the first time with Benjamin Netanyahu saying that assassinating Supreme Leader Ayatala Ali Kami would bring an end to the war with Thran It’s not going to escalate the conflict It’s going to end the conflict We’ve had uh half a century of conflict spread by this regime that is terrorizes everyone in the Middle East has bombed the Aramco oil fields in Saudi Arabia is spreading terrorism and subversion and sabotage everywhere That’s the forever war is what Iran wants and they’re bringing us to the brink of nuclear war In fact what Israel is doing is preventing this bringing an end to this uh this aggression But there’s little guarantee the Iranian regime would crumble if the country’s leader were removed The Assembly of Experts a deliberative body composed of 88 senior clerics which meets twice a year chooses a successor and may already have someone in mind And there’s also the possibility Kame is replaced by someone younger and more hardline or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps take control And if Kame Eig is killed uh you know there there is a a succession plan in place Some other guy will come in younger angrier uh less experienced I don’t think it’ll necessarily be great Or the regime will collapse and there will be uh you know civil conflict We’re not living in Sweden here It’s not going to turn to uh you know we’re in the Middle East It’s the guy with the guns and the organization that wins and that’s going to be the IRGC remnants Kamei who has been the supreme leader since the death of Ruholi in 1989 has also been potentially a moderating influence on Iran’s nuclear program having issued fatwas against nuclear weapons Benyamin Netanyahu has also called on Iranians to rise up against the regime but there’s no sign yet of anti-government protests which rocked Iran in late 2022 resuming while bombs continue to fall on the country

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not ruled out plans to assassinate Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying it would “end the conflict” between the two arch-foes. But who would replace Khamenei as the country’s ruler and would his death necessarily bring about regime change and an end to the war? Oliver Farry takes a look.

  1. The stupidity of modern day leaders

Never have I come across a bunch of leaders as stupid as the western leaders. I don't think any have existed since WW1.

I always consider WW1 as the stupid war because it started over a assassination of 2 people resulting in about 10 countries getting involved and about 22 million dead not mentioning the millions of those who would have ended up with disabilities. Then those who would become orphans. Countries with destroyed buildings and homes.

A war started not because of the assassination of the Austria-Hungary Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife in Sarajevo, but the assassination lead to the Austrian Foreign Office and Army using the murders as a reason for a preventive war against Serbian which led directly to World War I even though they did not have a hand in it.

A preemptive war against Serbia which ended up involving two main alliances: the Central Powers and the Allied Powers. The Central Powers primarily included Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. The Allied Powers, also known as the Entente Powers, initially consisted of France, Great Britain, and Russia, later joined by Italy, Japan, and the United States.

Approximately 15 to 22 million people died in World War I, encompassing both military personnel and civilians.

So I now view this to be the stupid war not because of Iran but because of the USA & Israel and Europe. They are clamouring for war.

I have realised how easily worked up they get. It's like watching chickens flapping their wings and clucking feverishly. Feathers are flying everywhere and the floor is covered with them.

Then you look across at the other side, the East, South and North and they are saying No, put a stop to it, we don't want to get involved. Because they know from history they will be dragged into it once it starts and they remember the aftermath of the wars they have been in and how long it took to rebuild their countries. So you have the adults and the children who want to play with their war toys.

This isn't like the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, things have changed, people have changed.

  2. Using the word “regime” to describe another country’s government is biased. Meaning, it’s not a real government like France’s. NOT good journalism.

  3. This is an absolute disgrace youre even entertaining this thought. How about put Macron or Trump or Netanyahu in that question? Unbelievable…..

  4. Israel is a regime, Iran is a democratic republic. Only Israel doesn’t allow all sectors of the countries public to vote.

  5. Havent you learned about anything about this part of the world. You take the leader out another one would be waiting to take his place and most probably be more conservative than the previous one.
But its the Americans we are talking about it they never learn from their own mistakes

  6. People might hate the government but they don't hate there country if you try to conduct regime change by force the people Will support there hated govrnment not the Isreali government.

  7. When you take out the so called ayatollah Khamenei, also take out the so called assembly of experts

  8. Stop asking these creepy questions. This is inciting a crime. This should not be on the table.

  9. N*tanyahoo is a monster… assassinating whoever they want ! Not legal … doesn’t change anything ! Yaya Sinwar, Nasrallah … didn’t change a thing. France on the wrong side of history, showing B*bi’s speech but never an lranian perspective 😢
