Columbia Gas of Virginia’s pipeline upgrades may cause traffic delays in Chesapeake starting June 23.
CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Drivers in Chesapeake may be affected by upcoming work to replace and upgrade natural gas infrastructure by Columbia Gas of Virginia.
Columbia Gas says the upgrades to the underground pipeline will enable the utility to continue providing safe and reliable service to its customers in the area.
The work is expected to begin June 23 and take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Night and weekend work is also possible. Drivers along Dock Landing Road, including Portsmouth Boulevard and Wedgewood Circle, may be affected. The project is estimated to wrap up by the beginning of October.
Columbia Gas reminds drivers to be prepared for slow or temporarily stopped traffic when traveling through work zones. They urge people to slow down, keep their distance from the car in front of them, pay attention to signs and flaggers, and expect traffic pattern changes.
