***From The Sunday Times:***
On Saturday night David Shayani, a resident of Warsaw, Missouri, posted on X that he had just seen nine B-2 bombers fly over his house, a few miles from the Whiteman Air Force Base where the fleet of bombers is stationed.
The fleet of American B-2 Spirit stealth bombers headed towards Guam, a US island territory in Micronesia, lulling observers, and most likely Iran, into thinking that was their end destination.
Hours later, Iran confirmed that three nuclear facilities had been hit, including Fordow, a uranium enrichment plant buried deep in a remote mountainside. Nuclear sites in Natanz and Isfahan were also struck.
Few details have been released of the US attack on Iran, but this is how it could have unfolded…
Before the aerial cavalry arrived, the US would have been likely to deploy other aircraft, possibly F-35s, that can hit multiple targets at the same time and thereby draw resources away from the real target.
The Israelis could have also deployed a cyberattack to sabotage the command and control elements of the Iranian military. Decoys, in the form of flares or chaff, could be used to divert air defence systems away from the jets in what a British military source described as “a series of co-ordinated complex events to max out the enemy”.
Israel’s destruction of Iranian missile defence systems has allowed it to dominate the skies, meaning B-2s and other aircraft would probably have been met with little resistance.
Is there any confirmation that the facilities have been disabled? if I remember correctly they were deep underground that even the best bunker busters couldn’t penetrate. I imagine US or Israel has spies looking to confirm?
Is there any chance they get nukes from a nefarious source? (Russia? China? Third party?)
Is there any chance Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz? I read they jammed GPS systems there already and ships are colliding. How true is this?
Maybe dumb but would they drop multiple bunker busters on the exact same spot to make sure they could go deep enough or doesn’t work that way?
