Good morning one and all!

Did you survive the scorchio / wet weekend? Get up to anything fun?

Much on for the week ahead (other than drowning yourself in a large vat of coffee)?

Come have a natter

  1. My leg is healed enough to go back to the gym, woohoo. So I’m currently sat outside waiting for it to open. Busy week ahead and I’m rather tired – hopefully getting back to regular exercise will give me a bit of a boost…

Anyway, weekend was quiet but very nice. Next few weeks have us gallivanting up and down the country so it was nice to spend some quality time on the sofa with a fan pointed directly at us!

  2. This week had better be calmer than last week!

On the surface it looks to be. My timetable is mostly years 10 and 11 with a bit of 13 and only two lessons in the week of 7. Year 11 and 13 are gone and year 10 are in and out of mocks. This was also the case last week but we had an external review which ate all my gain time, this week I’m hoping to use this time to get things prepped for next academic year.

So today’s plan is: have another fight with my department’s timetable and see if I can make it work better. Mark some mock papers. And perhaps clean out a cupboard. In the middle of that I have a grand total of one lesson, and it’s my year 10s who have their final mock in my subject tomorrow, so I’ll do a revision session.

  3. I’m going to be running on fumes today as I got possibly no more than half an hour’s worth of sleep last night. A lunch siesta could definitely be on the cards!

I’m only working three days this week *(yay!)* as i’ve got some annual leave I booked forever ago, but i’ve got to trek down to London tomorrow *(boo!)* to support an event from a technical perspective.

That essentially means ensuring that the third party company we have in have it all set up correctly, then monitoring the event itself which is no longer than 90 minutes. It’s rather painful when my commute is double that and I won’t be home gone 10:00pm.

  4. Not a great night’s sleep, the wind was causing something nearby to clatter so I’ve been awake since about 4…

Got the day off as we’re scattering mum’s ashes later, at the crematorium on the same plot we scattered dad’s. It’s been 5 months now and although it still hurts I’m hoping this will be another step forward in healing, as well as providing a bit more…closure I guess is the word, than the funeral did, which kind of felt more like a process I had to go through than anything else. This is just me, my brother and my aunt and for me it’s the chance to say goodbye properly.

Just need to occupy myself til then. Think I’ll go to the gym for a couple hours right now…

  5. Woke up multiple times with awful lower back pain, feels different from the muscular pain I’m used to, so holed up on the sofa for lumbar support with painkillers.

Alarms gone off so time to get up but so tired.

  6. Today is my first and last day this week, then I’ve got 2 friends from Finland over until next Tuesday.

Kinda glad the murder weather is over, 3 people staying in a tiny little 1.5 bed house will get cramped and sweaty otherwise!

Looking forward to a week of chilling, games and outings, got Linkin Park on Saturday too so that’s gonna rock.

  7. Job interview later on today.

A project I built being launched by Rolling Stone magazine at 9am today.

At least the heat seems to be dying down a bit.

  8. Just about to leave for work. Nervous as – content warning for depression – >!I’ve had a bad time lately and have some obvious self harm marks on my arm. I’ve been wearing a bandage for the last two weeks, but I’m down to just a plaster, and it’s too hot to wear long sleeves (especially on the antidepressant heat sensitivity train…).!<I’m OK, getting help and all that, nothing to worry about I just am stressed about the reactions I might get at work. I don’t *want* to hide and lie, and my work is a very casual open place, but it still makes me nervous.

  9. Next to no sleep last night and a hectic day at work fighting the usual Monday traffic madness (I’m a community worker not just commuting).

But it is my last day of 5 before my 3 rest days so I will be wishing 5pm to come quickly

  10. Going into the office today…. Second time this year, usually remote work. Bit of a commute to work but it is what it is.. Love the thumbnail on the post… Pretty much sums up my work lol

  11. I think the image that illustrates this post sums up my coming week better than I could.

I’m at a sector workshop/training day on Wednesday – hopefully. I’ve had to fight tooth and nail to have my train travel costs covered by my employer (the event itself is free!) because my place has a spending freeze. We’ve already been through mass redundancies this year, and it feels like more is coming.

Then my wife is away Friday to Sunday, so I’ve got to keep the kids alive and the house tidy. At least we’re starting the week in a good place _**looks at state of house, and cries**_

  12. The weather today is much more reasonable, and I had a physically taxing night at work, which also needed focus and more brain power than usual, so hopefully that’s a recipe for a good day’s sleep. I’ll have a banana milkshake, hang the washing out and have a quick shower then get to bed.

I hope you all have a good day 🙂

  13. The artist behind the comic used in the post, if anyone’s wondering: https://www.instagram.com/dric/

Next door put up a pop up gazebo yesterday and had a BBQ/garden party. This morning I was woken up early by the sound of it getting blown over in the wind and dragged halfway down their garden, knocking over their furniture. At least it didn’t end up on top of our shed this time. Bets are on as to whether they’ll tidy it up or just leave it there for a few months until it rots and falls apart.
