Wonder what AfD says about that, specially since the number of refugees and immigrants have increased tremendously at the same time.
But also: right wing political crimes are rising. So, the “criminal refugee” story is a lie! Who would have thought!
The CDU just lost Power, that crippled the crime rate
A very welcome development in Germany, indeed.

God bless corona?
The older your population gets, the less crime it commits, or am i wrong?
Because every thread on this sub gets brigaded by right wingers that want to push the tale of the evil criminal migrant:
The two main predictors for criminal behavior are Age and Gender.
Throughout all cultures young men are the most criminal demographic (overwhelmingly so in sex crimes).
This is also why migrants are seemingly overrepresented in crime statistics: Migrants are more likely to be young men.
Socio-economic status also plays a role, especially in petty crime.
There is however no correlation between culture, religion or ethnicity and criminal behavior.
Danke Merkel!
Looking forward to -110% in 95 years!
Probably changed the definition of certain crimes
But… but I thought Germany would collapse under crime because of all the migrants??
Where is data? Or some science paper? Good for Germany but without proper context? When seen with near countries, number of people are police officers, etc…
Nah, wait before government of last 16 years leave and you will see the truth, i hope. they just covering their asses by altering facts , they just decided not to count small crimes in their statistics or crimes are still investigating.
Incorrect migration policy, basically open door policy without any further plan how to integrate, lack of police forces, social workers etc are all carefully avoided by government and so-called opposition, who cares more about polar bears rather than safety and security of their own land.
>However, authorities are concerned about a rise in politically motivated crimes, **many** from far-right groups.
“many”? I absolutely abhor this kind of wording. If you’re providing % values for things, you can’t just start throwing obscure wording. 4 or 15 or 30 out of 100 is “many”, so why not just say “XX% rise is from far-right groups”.
The article links to another article of theirs by saying “sharp increase in far-right hate crimes online” with absolutely bizarre phrasing choices once again:
>Most alarmingly, Seehofer said that 40% of the 33,300 far-right extremists in the country were categorized as “violence-oriented,” the highest proportion ever. There had also been a 10% rise in the number of far-right violent crimes over the past year to 1,023, of which 842 were cases of physical assault.
>
>The BfV also registered a rise in left-wing extremists: 34,300 in 2020, compared to 33,500 in 2019, of whom 9,600 were considered potentially violent. There was also a significant rise in the number of violent far-left crimes, the BfV said — 1,237 were registered. Of these, 423 were cases of physical assault.
Why say “40% of 33,300” for right-wing but 9,600 out of 34,300 for left-wing? Why not say 40% for right and 30% for left? Why make it less concise?
And further, why focus is the link “far-right hate crimes online” when in the linked article it literally says:
>”Extremists and terrorists don’t go into lockdown,” BfV President Thomas Haldenwang told reporters at Tuesday’s press conference. “After only a short period of uncertainty at the start of 2020, **extremists in all areas shifted their activities into the virtual world**, where they used the entire spectrum of digital communication to network.”
So it was **both** right-wing and left-wing extremists.
They mention hate crimes and then proceed to only talk about right-wing extremism. Right-wing extremism is not just bad, it’s vile, it’s evil, it’s absolutely heinous, so they get no sympathy from me, but goddamn, what is with this article’s deal with left-wing extremism as if it doesn’t exist and all “politically motivated” crimes come from the right-wing extremists. It’s disingenuous and it feeds into a political divide that’s quickly becoming insurmountably wide.
Well done Germany. The world really needs a non-populist role model in our polarized times.
They probably are just really bad at registering crime there, right? ^/s
Misleading 15 years is a long time, doesnt mean the refugee crisis didnt increase it
Probably polished statistics so it can fit the narrative
It’s only anecdotal evidence, but the problem with such statistics is how you count crime. I have filed more than a dozen reports with the police, but my local state attorney office is hopelessly understaffed. The poor lady on the phone told me she’s the only one in her department still coming to work, everyone else called in sick. She straight up told me I should write a complaint to her boss (which I did, I know from her the complaint got processed internally, but I never got a response). Drowning in work I can’t blame them to prioritize and throw out less important cases, however it really sucks that the same thing keeps happening to me: I drive a fast (45 km/h) ebike and a small but notable minority of car drivers is mad that I (as forbidden by law) don’t use the bike path and they start to rage, honking, insulting me (which believe it or not is a criminal offense in Germany) and/or provoking dangerous near accidents… All of which is clearly illegal, but all of the cases except one got thrown out, I tried to force the most severe ones into court but I lost there as well. State attorney and judge made ridiculous statements about the video from my helmet camera. The driver of the 40 ton truck who almost and deliberately ran me over admitted to me, that he did it, because I wasn’t using the bike lane. All of it on tape. But apparently that’s not enough to prove intent. I don’t know how else you ever want to prove intent then, but well.
Not me, but if you want to see how actual crimes against cyclists end up not counting as crimes, [read this blog (in German)](https://blog.natenom.com/)
